personal styling for plus size women
If you think that having a personal stylist is only for the rich, famous and size zeros of the world, think again; every woman deserves to look and feel her best every day whatever her budget. If you shop Shein, Boohoo, Evans, Simply Be, Next or buy your clothes at the supermarket then you are the woman for me. I am not going to recommend you clothes outside of your budget, if £10 is the maximum you have to spend on a top, then £10 it is!
LJ.Style is especially created for plus size women, whilst I am happy to have clients who are outside of this, I specialize in dressing curvier bodies and, as a plus size woman myself, I understand the nuances of what it means to have bigger boobs, hips, tummy etc, whilst a mainstream stylist may be able to help, I truly believe that if you’ve never lived in a plus sized body then you’ll never truly understand how it feels or how to dress larger bodies.
When I say plus size, I mean plus size, I specialise in dressing women from size 16 to 32, whatever your size or shape, get in touch, I’d love to help.
How it works.
We’ll start with a simple questionnaire which I’ll send you. Once you’ve filled it in and sent it to me, I will review it and give you a call to arrange our session. During this initial call, we’ll have a quick chat about what you are hoping to get from our session and we’ll fix a date & time. I don’t keep a 9-5 schedule here and am really happy to do evenings and weekends, so if you’re working we can fit around your schedule, I don’t want you to miss out.
During your session you will have my complete attention, everything is about you. We’ll work through the session you’ve booked and although you might be a bit tired afterwards, you’ll come away with a greater understanding of your personal style, your preferences and a way forward.
After the session you’ll receive an email with your very own style guide, shopping recommendations, and a guide to shopping smart for clothes and accessories.
Who am I?
My name is Lisa, I began my career way back in the 90s as a bridal stylist. In the shop I worked we only carried a few sample dresses in sizes 18-22, the rest were standard 10-12s. During my time there I expanded the plus size range and it became known throughout the community that this shop not only had a good range of larger dresses, but also a stylist who wasn’t a skinny-minnie and therefore understood the needs of plus-sized bodies. I would hear countless times from women how relieved they were to be able to not have to strip down in front of a tiny teenager and work with someone who could find dresses to work with their size and shape!
Although my professional career took me out of styling, fashion and style was always something I loved and throughout my life I have often been complimented on my own style and have helped countless friends to sort their wardrobes, find clothes that suit their body types, maximize their wardrobes and find some confidence regardless of their shape and size.
Now I want to help you!

Whether you work as a dog-walker or CEO, whether you have 7 kids and 3 dogs or are single and pet free, whether you need a bit of a refresh or a whole new wardrobe, whatever you lifestyle, I will work with you to have you looking stylish and put together every day.
- I’ll be honest with you. Let’s face it, you haven’t booked me to pop round and tell you everything is great and that you can wear anything, if you thought that you wouldn’t be engaging the services of a stylist. I’ll explain to you honestly (though not brutally) what styles don’t work for you and help you understand why, you’re paying for the truth and I want my clients to be known as stylish women who know how to effortlessly put an outfit together.
- I’ll make it relaxed. I will never ask you to stand in front of a 360° mirror in your bra and knickers and look at your body from all angles, we don’t need to do that in order to understand and create your personal style!
- I’ll keep it hush-hush. Everything we do is confidential, I won’t share anything you tell me, any pictures or anything about you or your wardrobe unless you give me permission.
- I won’t judge you. I’ll never judge anything about you, if you invite me into your wardrobe and your life, then I consider that to be an absolute privilege, they’ll be no judgement about your body, your clothes, your undies, your home, your diet or anything else. My only focus is having you look and feel fabulous.

This is a 1-1½ hour bespoke online style consultation, designed to help you maximize the pieces you already own. We’ll talk about your body type and shopping habits, your lifestyle and preferences and we’ll work through any concerns that you have when dressing (we all have those problem areas that we’d rather disguise!).
This session is perfect for you as an introduction to the world of personal styling, if you need a bit of a boost to your style and a pair of fresh eyes on you existing wardrobe, and it’s a great way to test out a stylist and decide whether a more in depth session would be good for you.

We’ll talk generally about body shape and how to dress your best no matter what your size and shape. We’ll learn about how to find your personal style and curate your wardrobe so that you never have one of those days where you don’t have anything to wear.
We’ll think about the challenges we find when shopping and you and your guests will leave with a re-invigorated sense of your own style and some things to think about next time you’re in the shops.

Corporate, TV & Fashion Styling
We've all see photos in magazines, online shopping sites and even styling sessions on TV where a, probably well-meaning, stylist has tried to dress a larger body and failed miserably. The clothes look sloppy, unflattering and shapeless and don't encourage your potential customers to click that all-important button to 'buy'.

5 shopping tips for curvy girls!
To get you thinking and understanding some of the ways a personal stylist can help you, I'm giving you 5 of my top tips for shopping as a plus size woman...
- Know your measurements! This is especially key for online shopping. Don't worry about the number on the label, know your measurements and shop to those.
- Only buy what fits you now. No 'weight loss goal' jeans or dresses; buy what you need now and if you need a rethink later, that's fine.
- Versatility is key. Make sure that every piece in your wardrobe has many ways to wear it and lots of things it mixes and matches with.
- Accessories matter. Even a simple broach or a single pair of statement earrings can elevate an outfit to a whole new level.
- Be prepared to walk away. There are lots of clothes that I see that I love, but they are simply not me; I am not a woman who wears plaid shirts, no matter how much I want to be. Knowing your personal style, will help you save so much money by only buying what works for you.
It felt like a bit of a luxury and a frivolous spend, but honestly I've saved so much money by learning how to wear the clothes I've already got. Money well-spent!
